    Local schoolchildren take the taste test at Maynard

    Children from Grindleford Primary School will descend on Peak District hotel and restaurant, The Maynard, on Wednesday 18 November. The children are eagerly awaiting the chance to create their own Christmas puddings, following a new recipe specially created for this year, by The Maynard’s award-winning head chef, Ben Hickinson.

    Paul’s successful trek for Cavendish Cancer Care

    Paul Downing, the Fretwell-Downing director responsible for the hotel and events businesses - Whirlowbrook Hall and The Maynard, has returned to his Peak District home after a successful but gruelling Himalayan adventure, all in aid of Cavendish Cancer Care in Sheffield.

    Celebrity Chef Brian Turner presented East Lodge, leading Peak District hotel and restaurant, with the coveted Derbyshire Food & Drink Silver award for ‘Restaurant of the Year 2009’ at a gala ceremony recently.
    Seasonal grouse is now on the menu at East Lodge in Rowsley, making a trip into the Peak District over the next couple of weeks even more attractive for game-loving foodies.
