Despite the doom and gloom in the news, Cumbrian Christmas party plans are still going ahead – but with a noticeable trend towards something more alternative.

Lake District Hotels have spiced up their 2008 Christmas Party programme by providing alternative party themes as well as their Traditional Christmas Party Nights. With a choice of themes to suit a range of pockets, the hotel group has introduced Elvis Tribute Nights, Las Vegas Casino Nights as well as a Fajitas and Margaritas Party.

This refreshing approach has been welcomed by groups and companies in the region who are determined to ensure spirits remain high this Christmas and they are already booking their parties.

“We’re finding that companies still want to celebrate, but they are looking for something different and something flexible enough to fit their budgets” says Kit Graves, Director of Lake District Hotels.  

“With more than a dozen Christmas albums to his name, Elvis was an obvious choice and the Elvis Tribute Nights are proving popular at both the Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick and the George Hotel in Penrith. His songs are timeless and great for creating real party atmosphere.”

Following the Elvis theme, the hotels in the Lake Distict, The Lodore Falls in Borrowdale and the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding are hosting “Viva Las Vegas” Casino Nights. They will amaze party goers straight away, but as Kit Graves highlighted, “a strong theme would be forgotten if the quality of the food were not up to scratch and we see it as our duty to ensure the quality of the food leaves a lasting impression too.”

The third alternative is tailored to a younger audience. The Mexican Parties will be held in the Loft at the Kings Arms in Keswick so look out for Poncho’s and ladies with a tequila belt!

Cumbrian workers should be glad of their location and the chance to enjoy a party since 40% of office workers in the east of the UK admit to never having an office Christmas party!
