Stepping up to the environmental challenge

Every year London alone generates around 50 million tonnes of carbon dioxide of which almost 20% comes directly from transport. It is no wonder then that taking responsibility for reducing carbon emissions and managing environmental impact is becoming more important in attracting new customers and retaining existing business. Now, taxi advertising specialist Cabvert Media has taken positive steps to reducing Liverpool’s carbon footprint by joining the Carbon Neutral Company.

Cabvert became the first taxi advertising company to become carbon neutral through its use of carbon neutral taxis which contribute to reducing the harmful emissions that are threatening the health of the world’s climate ensuring that all their clients run a completely green marketing campaign.

The carbon neutral status is achieved by Cabvert through its investment into a waste power project in the Rhine and Ruhr valleys in Germany. The project allows the capture of methane, which is considered more harmful than CO2, from three abandoned coal mines in Germany. The investment ensures that the whole Cabvert service not only conveys a message to target markets of its clients, but to other local businesses that are yet to take serious action in helping to minimise their carbon footprint.

Lee Dentith, Cabvert MD comments “We are constantly challenging the boundaries of taxi advertising and now we’ve found this new fantastic way for companies to offset their Carbon footprint. Our industry relies on the use of vehicles but by making our taxis Carbon neutral we are ensuring emissions are reduced which enables companies to do continue advertising in confidence they are not damaging the environment”.

A favoured way of tackling pollution is encouraging people to leave their car at home and start using public transport like taxis, so stepping up to environmental challenge with taxi advertising has become an interesting and relevant way of growing customer base and profit. Outdoor advertising, in particular taxi advertising has become increasingly popular as companies drive to find new channels to communicate commercial messages to large audiences. Combining the obvious advertising benefits and business benefits means that Cabvert has become one of the most environmentally friendly businesses in the North West.
